HOWZAT with Michael Bourke
THE Australian Cricket team played well this week for the first time in a while to defeat India in the T20 after a number of recent losses.
Jason Behrendorf and Adam Zampa bowled well while Moses Henriques and Travis Head both batted with discipline.
My prediction for 12th man for the Aussies for the Ashes series is Chadd Sayers from South Australia.
Sayers is the logical choice with Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Patrick Cummins likely to fill the pace bowling positions. The other contender is Behrendorf should Starc be at risk of retiring hurt after a long lay-off with injury.
As far as who fields when an injury occurs is anyone's guess as shown last season when long-haired Mickey Edwards fielded as a crowd favourite.
I ENJOYED watching Michael Neser smash 122 runs off only 81 balls for the Bulls this week against Western Australia.
Neser treated the Warriors bowlers like a third-grade cricket side from Birdsville (if they have a third grade there).
With eight sixes and seven fours, you would have thought the game was played on a postage stamp or a small ground like at Warwick East State School.
My horse tip for this Saturday is for The Taj Mahal in the Caulfield Stakes.
