BACK UP: Road closures in place across Southern Downs
IF it’s flooded, forget it: That is the mantra repeated by officials as rain continues to fall across the Southern Downs.
Council water manager Seren McKenzie said residents should not enter flooded roads, regardless of whether they had a council road closure sign present.
“Just because signs aren’t up yet doesn’t mean it’s safe to cross,” she said.
“We have a bit more rain coming through now and we want people to remember that.”
The Department of Transport and Main Roads has marked a number of roads as flooded on the Southern Downs, though there are no official closures currently in place.
