Burns rates young centre one of the best in TRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: Prop Dylan Wilson scored three tries and was player of the match as Wattles won the Ragh Family Trophy against Souths on Saturday at Platz Oval.

In A-grade, Wattles made it two wins from three games with a 46-10 victory against Souths.

Coach Travis Burns was happy with the two competition points but said there was still a lot of improvement in his team.

"Nathan Gaulton is playing well at fullback but is a work in progress,” Burns said.

"Nick Van Der Poel played well in the centres, there are some good centres in the competition but he is up with the best.”

Wattles remain unbeaten in reserve grade after a 48-6 win.

The star Souths under-18 team beat Wattles 48-26. Wattles did well with a squad of 14 against 20 from Souths.

Wattles will have their first Sunday game of the season against Pittsworth at Platz Oval, Clifton, this Sunday.

Pittsworth and Wattles each have two wins from three games this season and the winner will join Warwick Cowboys at the top of the table as the Cowboys have the bye.

Juniors

THE Warwick and District Junior Rugby League will kick off for the season on April27.

The plans for the season were finalised at a district meeting at Inglewood on Sunday.

Boys and girls will play in each age group from under-6 to under-12 and then the boys play under-14 and under-16 rugby league and the girls under-15 and under-17 league tag.
