Carnival glory comes down to one 8am Friday game
RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick and Southern Downs are in contention to win their 12th zone 5, under-43kg premiership when they play Western Downs at 8am Friday in Clifton.
After five wins and a draw, Warwick/SD is on top of the points table with 11 points, one in front of Western Downs.
On Thursday morning, Warwick/SD drew 4-all with South Burnett before hitting top form in the afternoon to beat Balonne Barwon 24-12.
Coach Ross Thorn was upbeat about the outstanding defence against South Burnett.
"Ryan Bohm and Riley Wainwright were two of our best in the draw,” he said.
South Burnett dominated the final 10 minutes but the Warwick/SD defence held.
