Drunk tradie escapes bouncers via pub’s roof

SECURITY guards fooled by a drunk tradie’s request for a last-minute toilet break reached new heights when they found a gaping hole leading into a roof of a Caloundra pub.

Tyson Kane Emerson, 22, was being escorted out of Caloundra Hotel for being too drunk on August 18 before heading to the pokie room toilets and making his own attempts to stay.

Emerson broke a toilet and paper dispenser while he smashed through the roof above the cubicle and climbed into the roof cavity.

Police prosector Amanda Brewer said Emerson’s friends were still partying in the building as he destroyed the plaster and “walked around” in the roof.

He eventually climbed down and was escorted out of the hotel, but faced up to his actions by pleading guilty at Caloundra Magistrates Court on Wednesday to wilful damage.

Duty lawyer Jane Bruxner said the shopfitter admitted to drinking “copious” amounts of alcohol on the night and had already been dealt a hefty fine for his behaviour.

Magistrate Haydn Stjerqvist sentenced Emmerson to be fined a further $450, with no conviction recorded.
