Excitement builds in Allora as TRL finals continue

RUGBY LEAGUE: Wattles second rower Ty Gardner is "raring to go” for the Toowoomba Rugby League preliminary final against Valleys on Sunday afternoon at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

Gardner has been rated one of the best in the first two Wattles games in the finals and has three tries in two finals game.

"I am mainly running off coach Travis Burns when I score,” Gardner said.

"It is great to play off Travis who has played NRL.

"I have learnt so much playing beside him.”

Gardner said Burns gave the team some heavy contact work at training on Tuesday night.

"We just have to be ready for a quality side like Valleys on Sunday.”

Despite beating Valleys three times this season, Gardner is not getting carried away.

"Valleys will definitely be tough across the park, they are the benchmark in the TRL,” he said.

Gardner hails from Allora and said there was a lot of interest in town in the finals series.

"There is a lot of excitement about our chances of winning the premiership. It will be one for the ages if we play Warwick in the TRL grand final.”

Next year, Gardner is hoping to make more representative teams.

"I made Clydesdales this year but want to play for the Central Crows next year.”
