Exhibition fixture highlights best of the TRL
RUGBY LEAGUE: The third annual TRL All Stars and Southwest Queensland Emus clash promises to highlight the best of what rugby league has to offer.
Pitting the best Indigenous players against the top-liners of the TRL, the match brings everyone together in the spirit of competition.
TRL All Stars coach Ned Murphy is aware of the impact the game has on the local region.
"It's a really good game for Toowoomba,” Murphy said.
"We have a lot of good Indigenous players in our comp and it's good to recognise them and celebrate it.
"We look forward to the opportunity to play against them.”
While played in the best of spirits, Murphy is well aware of how badly both sides want to come away with the spoils.
"It's very fierce. A lot of the players I've spoken to are very keen to reverse the result (of last year),” he said.
"They're desperate to get a victory tonight.”
For the Emus, coach Brett Seymour believes the team's star-studded backline will need to be on their game to get over the line.
"We've got a good halves combination in Cory and Dave. They're going to be a key to us winning the game,” Seymour said.
"We will expect all of our outside backs to play good as well. Corey Blades is the old statesman and we've got young guys like Dylan Chown and Aaron Hooper.
"We have a lot of speed there, but we will have to be very good to beat a really hot side.”
The day commences at 2pm with the U16s Emus vs All Stars match, with the men's fixture taking place at 7pm.
