Five-eighth carries hopes in final for Cowboys

RUGBY LEAGUE: Captain Mick Bloomfield tips five-eighth Coedie Tandy to be one of the players to star in Sunday's grand final.

The Cowboys play Valleys at 3pm on Sunday aiming to win their first A-grade grand final since 1988.

"I expect Coedie Tandy to play out of his skin,” Bloomfield said.

"His talk on the field is awesome which helps organise our attack and defence.”

Bloomfield won two premierships with the Killarney Cutters and is aiming for his first premiership with the Cowboys in his fourth season with the club.

"It is exciting to captain the team, I wanted the match over last week,” he said.

"On game day, I try to be myself without thinking about it too much.”

Bloomfield admits he gets nervous before a game "but you get rid of the nerves after the first hit-up or tackle.

"Everyone is ready to go, we know we have to reach another level to win on Sunday,” he said.

"Valleys will be tough, we need to wear their forwards out and win the grand final with our defence.”

Tickets for the grand final will be on sale at the Clive Berghofer Stadium (athletics oval) gate in Arthur St in east Toowoomba.
