Four-car pileup shuts down major coastal road
Three people have been taken to hospital after a four-car crash on the David Low Way at Marcoola, only hours after another crash at the same spot.
Three people were being taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after the nose-to-tail crash, which shut down all lanes of traffic, about 11.10am.
One suffered neck pain, another had minor chest injuries and the third person requiring transport for further treatment had suffered an ankle injury, but no serious injuries had been reported.
Significant traffic delays were being reported as a result of the four-car collision which required police, firefighters and paramedics to attend.
The vehicles involved were understood to have been travelling eastbound when they collided, near the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Westbound traffic was flowing again, but eastbound travellers remained cut off as emergency services cleared the scene.
It was the second crash in the area today.
Two women were taken to Nambour Hospital this morning for further treatment for neck pain, after a two-car crash just before 8am on the David Low Way at Marcoola.
A third woman was uninjured and declined transport to hospital.
