Goodrich in mix for Broncos team
POSITIONS in this season's Broncos under-20 team will be up for grabs from the opening whistle of Saturday night's trial match against Norths Devils in Toowoomba.
The Broncos Colts' team will be in the city for its first 2012 trial game, now being played at Clive Berghofer Stadium.
Former under-18 Clydesdales and Southern Suburbs player Jeriah Goodrich will be part of the Broncos 24-member match squad.
Broncos' coach Kurt Richards said the former Toowoomba Grammar student would be one of a number of players he will see under match conditions for the first time this weekend.
"We gave Jeriah a little time to finish his time at school, and he was a little later starting pre-season training with us," Richards said.
"But he has been training quite impressively and we're looking forward to seeing him on the paddock on Saturday night."
Richards said spots in this season's Toyota Cup team would be on the line from this weekend.
"This is an early start for us with the season starting a week earlier, and there will be a lot to play for on Saturday night," Richards said.
"This is where we start seeing who grabs a spot for round one of the premiership.
"I think we'll be looking to play four 20-minute quarters so hopefully the weather will be favourable and we can have a good match."
Tickets are $5 each or $10 per family and can be purchased at the gate. The match starts at 5pm.
