Holiday workshops to create, connect and share

A SERIES of workshops aimed at connecting creative souls is all set to land in the Rose City.

Organised by local photographer Teilah Skye McKelvey, workshops for both children and adults will run throughout December and January.

On Friday, December 15 from 4pm at Warwick Artists Studio at 21 Willi St, it's time for the adults to get into the festive spirit and create a gorgeous wreath.

Mrs McKelvey said Warwick florist Sophie Bartz would be on hand to help workshop-goers.

"She is so talented and it's incredible to see what wonderful wreathes she is able to make with a mix of foliage, natives and other botanicals," she said.

"All materials are supplied along with some light nibbles but please feel free to bring along some of your fav cheeses, christmas treats or even a drink or two if you like."

Mrs McKelvey said the idea was an opportunity to get creative together.

"It's not only a lot of fun, but being creative is great for your self-confidence," she said.

"These workshops are designed to be a place to create, connect and share."

The cost is $55 and booking can be made by calling 0403237555.

Next week, to coincide with school holidays and give some bored kids something fun to do, a series of kid's workshops will begin.

The children's workshops will run on December 12, 14, 19 and 21 between 10am to 11am and from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Children between the ages of three and 15 can take part and the workshops cost $17.

"The classes will consist of gorgeous cookies by Chloe from Whpped which the children will get to decorate and take home," Mrs McKelvey said.

"They can they choose from three amazing arts and crafts to create and take home also.

"They will be working with water colour wrapping paper, Christmas decorations, card making, crackers and fabric wreaths.

"These classes require adult supervision also and if you would like to book in please feel free to call or text me."

Mrs McKelvey said she wanted to acknowledge the Warwick Artist's Group for welcoming their workshops into their space.

"I've been hoping to reach out to the local art community with a view to future collaborations," she said.

"I'm hoping these will become a regular thing.

"At the moment I've just arranged workshops for December and January and we'll see how the community supports them before going further.
