PUPPIES can be fed up to five times per day and with 29 of them currently in the care of Southern Downs ARK, that's a huge demand to keep up with.
The puppies are also joined by about 20 adult dogs and between 20-30 cats.
Southern Downs ARK president Ann Simon said it was the largest amount of pets the group had ever had, as more are gathered as they become more well-known.
Recently, a dog was found with a litter of puppies dumped on the side of the road.
"Some people think they can make money with a litter of puppies but then find they can't,” Mrs Simon said.
Southern Downs ARK is also in desperate need of foster carers, who take care of the animals until a permanent home for them is found.
Mrs Simon said seven dogs were currently in kennels because there were no foster carers to take care of them.
"We provide all the pet care, all the food so it costs them nothing they just have a bit of time and love to spend on the dog or cat,” Mrs Simon said.
To help the group keep feeding the in-need pets, Total Dog Grooming in Warwick has set up a Christmas tree where food donations can be made.
Mrs Simon said the money helps to subsidise the huge costs associated with taking care of the animals, which includes micro-chipping and treating the pets for conditions such as worms.
"It saves us using our valuable funds to buy food because we've got such big vet bills,” she said.
"We could spend thousands on an animal to get it well enough for adoption.
"All the money we have to raise, other than what we get when we adopt an animal.”
The group will also be attending the Uber Markets on Saturday at Leslie Park, so Mrs Simon is hopeful a few adoptions will be made.
