Lisa Curry's Valentine's surprise in I'm A Celebrity jungle
AT THE end of his marriage, entertainer Mark Tabone, 50, was lost and thought he would never find love again.
But a few messages about selling Kombi vehicle parts led to him finding his "soulmate”, Lisa Curry.
The pair spent a month chatting before the former Olympian asked Mark to visit her in Melbourne.
"We just fell in love pretty much instantly and just had so much in common. I've grown to love her so much,” Mark said.
"I was pretty lost for a while prior to that, at the end of my marriage, and I was heading in no direction at all.
"She'd just come out of a relationship herself and we were both in the same boat.”
Now Mark's feeling a little lost again because his fiance, Lisa, 54, is half a world away, living in a South African jungle camp as a contestant of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
They've been apart for three weeks and Mark said the distance was taking its toll, especially on Valentine's Day.
"My life is not the same without her. I really miss her,” he said.
It's been three weeks since they've seen each other but the pair did manage to work out a way for Lisa to send Mark a few subtle messages while on the show.
"I've got a couple of cryptic messages with her playing with her necklace and her ring,” Mark said.
Lisa will also get the chance to hear from Mark on tonight's episode when the contestants are sent Valentine's Day messages from their loved ones.
"I want her to know how much I love her and I miss her.”
Mark said Lisa was "mentally tough” and the I'm A Celebrity shenanigans would be a walk in the park for her, but he hoped his message would give her a boost.
And if he has to spend more time apart from Lisa, it will be worthwhile to see her win the competition.
"Hopefully we'll see her go right through to the end,” he said.
Mark has been racking up the phone bill by sending text messages to save Lisa from elimination and he said he knew she had a huge fan base on the Coast and around the country doing the same.
"She's beautiful inside and out and people see that, especially when you've been one on one with her,” he said.
The public's support helped Lisa avoid the show's first elimination for season three on Sunday night.
American actor/comedian Tom Arnold, who'd clashed with Lisa on the show, was sent packing instead.
Since leaving the jungle, Arnold took the chance to once again hit out at Lisa, telling News she had no sense of humour.
"Her role became the deputy hall monitor and she embraced it because she is from the athletic world where everything is either black or white,” he said.
But no matter what anyone else thinks, Mark's head over heels and said he would be waiting for his fiance how ever long it takes, with the promise of a weekend away to make up for their time apart.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here continues tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
