Long road trip for the Redbacks to end fixture season
AUSSIE RULES: The Warwick Redbacks will finish their AFL Darling Downs fixture season with the longest trip of the year, a three-hour drive to Chinchilla on Saturday.
After going down last week to South Toowoomba, the Redbacks have trained twice this week in the run-up to the game against bottom side Chinchilla.
Coach Ben Heppell has 17 players set to travel to Chinchilla.
"We have a lot of players out due to work commitments and injuries,” he said.
With Warwick well below full strength, Tyhe Clarkson will be a key player in the midfield.
"I am hoping Matty Watson plays well in the midfield and am looking for a top performance by Kurt Millard in the backline,” Heppell said.
"A win will almost guarantee third spot while a loss would put the team in jeopardy of missing the top five.”
Goondiwindi lead the competition from Coolaroo with Warwick third, USQ fourth and Highfields fifth.
There are no play-off for finals spots in the Darling Downs league, if teams are together on points, percentage is used to determine the finalists.
After this week, Warwick has a bye for the final round and finals will start in a fortnight at a venue to be determined.
All grand finals will be at Rockville.
Warwick juniors have home games on Saturday morning.
