Mixed feedback on toilets
THE council's manager of community services and major projects, Michael Bell, says complaints and requests for service the council receives regarding public toilets are not excessive.
This followed community concerns that a syringes, human faeces and a lack of toilet paper were painting the town in a negative light.
"The feedback I've gotten is that four years ago, we were servicing them more frequently, but the need wasn't there,” Mr Bell said.
He said the complaints raised by residents had not been reflected in the feedback he received through the council.
"I'm not getting that same feedback through from council's perspective,” he said. He confirmed Stanthorpe's Farley St toilets were serviced three times a week and said there had been 12 service requests since July 2013.
It appeared some people had been stealing toilet paper, but Mr Bell said the Farley St toilets were "not a facility with a huge proportion of complaints”.
