New business set to spice Warwick up
IN WHAT has become a big week for new business openings, a family from Brisbane has taken up the challenge of bringing their brand to Warwick and opened their own store here on Tuesday.
Right next to Subway on Albion St, Tandoor on Warwick is the culmination of hard work of brothers Jatinder and Harry Singh, who already have Tandoor on Tweed in Tweed Heads.
Harry is the chef behind the spice and tastes at the new restaurant and said the opportunity to open in Warwick was too good to pass up.
"We were looking to expand and saw an opening here, so we came out to Warwick to have a look,” he said.
"Warwick is totally different to Brisbane, but it has a great feel and lovely people.
"Everyone has been very friendly, and even without any marketing at all, we still had customers come through the door on our opening night and the feedback from them was great.”
Mr Singh said he had moved to Australia three years ago.
"I came for the opportunities Australia offers,” he said.
"It was a huge move, leaving family and friends, the places you grew up all behind but it's been very rewarding and positive.”
Mr Singh said his brother Jatinder had come out to Australia seven years earlier.
"He established Tandoor on Tweed about six years ago, and it's been very successful, so we're hoping we can do the same here,” he said.
"We'd love to meet the people of Warwick, so come and say hello and try our beautiful Indian food
Sporting traditional Indian family recipes with a few interesting twists, Tandoor on Warwick also offer customers Indian-style burgers and wraps.
The restaurant is fully-licensed and is open from 11am to 9pm.
