New look Ravens team aiming for netball premiership

NETBALL: Minor premiers Ravens have just made it in to the grand final with a 35-34 victory against Confro in the Warwick Netball Association preliminary final.

The differences in the final scores in the four preliminary finals were one, four, 11 and two.

It is expected the grand finals on Monday at WIRAC will also be close.

While Ravens were the minor premiers, last year's premiership winners Hazzards won the major semi final.

Hazzards have missed the retired Jess O'Brien this season but as is so often the case, they rise to the occasion when it matters.

Three of the Ravens team, organiser Debb Stevens, Jade Smith and Jacinta Keogh are all out on maternity leave but will be cheering their team on at the grand final.

Stevens said her team needed accurate shooting and good feeds into the shooting circle.

"Hazzards have a strong defence led by Helena Tate,” she said.

"We will need to work hard in centre court and keep our combinations working together.

"It is exciting some new players are in their first final, including sisters Maddie and Makenzi Burton and Brianna Woods who will play centre court as well as defenders Tyler Aspinall and Steph Lockhart. For the past two seasons, we have been sponsored by Top Notch Plastering Warwick.”
