Overseas tour for Warwick futsal star
FUTSAL: Two years after playing his first futsal, Bradley Cook has been selected in an Australian youth men's team to tour Chile.
Cook played for the Scots PGC College team in the Toowoomba interschool competition where his form lead to his selection in the National Futsal Championships in Brisbane.
He played all his games during the school holidays at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, one of four venues used for the national championships.
As there was not a full team from the area, Cook played for the South Coast team.
In the semi finals, South Coast led 3-1 in the first half before going down in the last few sessions on the match.
During the championships, Cook scored four goals but played predominately in defence.
There were 2500 people at the presentation ceremonies at Sea World on the Gold Coast.
He first played football at Gordonvale just outside of Cairns.
Six years ago, Cook joined the Warwick District Football Association after his family moved to the area.
He has played for South West at the Gold Coast Cup.
Cook played for the Darling Downs schoolboys team in state championship football in Brisbane where he played in defence.
He has regularly represented Warwick in carnival football and as a 15-year-old he was part of this season's Warwick Wolves team which played in the Toowoomba 16/17 years competition and narrowly missed the top four.
In an email following his selection, Cook was told: "Your selection to represent Australia in Chile is fantastic and this is something you have earned through your hard work and your performance during the tournament.
"This is a fantastic honour and you and your family should be very proud of your efforts and achievements and this is a memory you should treasure for a long time to come”.
Cook will travel with the Australian youth team in Chile on July 10-27 next year.
