Raiders take cash in bold break-in

BANDITS broke into an electrical-supply store in Warwick at the weekend and stole money.

Police say the unknown intruders forced entry to the rear of the building of Rexel Electrical Supplies and made off with a quantity of cash.

Sales assistant Ray Carniel said yesterday was baffled by the ordeal.

"Basically someone has managed to jemmy in through two metal doors; one that's always locked and we don't have a key for," Mr Carniel said.

"They got into the office and found where we keep the till and got away with a bit of money."

The offenders caused some damage where they pried the doors open, but Mr Carniel said everything else appeared undisturbed.

"It's usually the floodwaters that we're worried about," he said.

"This time around we didn't get flooded; instead we got a break-in."

Police conducted a forensic examination at the premises at 8am yesterday.

"If anyone saw anything when they were travelling past, please let the police know," Mr Carniel said.
