SCOTS PGC College student Ewan McFarland is the Warwick Credit Union/Daily News Junior Sports Star for the month of May.

He won the award after placing second in the 16 years Darling Downs School Cross Country championships at Highfields in a time of 22 minutes, 23.09 seconds, for 6000m.

He is a boarder at Scots PGC College who comes from Narrabri in northwest New South Wales.

In the past two years, McFarland has improved his Darling Downs place from 26th to sixth and now second.

Sixth last year gave him the chance to run in the state titles on the Sunshine Coast and he has qualified for his second state championships.

He is a true all rounder as he has also represented Darling Downs in orienteering and athletics.

Last year, he won the15 years regional 3000m to qualify for state titles.

Being a strong cross country runner is a good start in orienteering, a sport where McFarland has represented Darling Downs.

McFarland wins $50 from the Warwick Credit Union.
