Second round action in Gold Cup had 12 on 177 or higher

FOUR riders headed the standings early in the second round of the Pryde's EasiFeed Warwick Gold Cup on Sunday morning.

Like his son Morgan, Clermont rider Rohan Marks is one of the stars of the Warwick Rodeo and Campdraft.

Rohan has 178 for two rounds in the Gold Cup and shared the early lead with Luke Bennett (Dundee, NSW) riding Boonara Billy Black.

Codie Law on Yarrawa Guns N Roses and Darrin Jones on Awful were equal third on 177.

Morgan Marks won the saddle bronc average at the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals with wins in the final two rounds on Friday and Saturday nights.

Later in the morning, Wee Waa rider Sam Knight on O'Lara and Glen Innes campdrafter Daniel Cheers on Jacpot Grils shared the lead on 179 to go into the final as the leading pair.

Capella rider Steve Comiskey had a 178 on Bloomfield Stylish Diamond as did Beaudesert horsewoman Kimberley Sammon on Possum Sue, Cal Gibson (Bundarra) on Elly and Hugh Miles (Tamworth) with Times Up.

Bruce McNaughton had 177 on Dreams of Acres as did Michael Hiscock, (of Maffra, Vic) riding Advice.

The Gold Cup final was scheduled for noon. There are also second-division and junior finals at the Warwick Rodeo on Sunday.
