Police investigate scene of fatal highway traffic crash
TUESDAY, 4.15PM: MOTORISTS can expect lengthy delays on the New England Highway while Forensic Crash Unit officers investigate the scene of a fatal crash.
Police closed the highway Gatton-Clifton Rd and Spring Creek Rd.
Diversions are in place to move traffic from the crash site.
They will remain in place until 7pm tonight.
A 53-year-old motorcyclist passed away about 2.30pm.
A second man, aged in his 30s, suffered head, back and abdominal injuries while a girl, aged in her late teens, sustained minor injuries.
The crash occurred about 1.30pm, yesterday, near the Gatton-Clifton Rd.
Toowoomba Country Patrol Inspector Danny Shaw asked witnesses to come forward and help police understand the cause of the crash.
He requested any dashcam footage captured in the lead to the crash.
"This is our fifth fatality for the year," he said.
"We ask motorists to drive to the conditions because it is really important they get home safely to their families."
UPDATE: A MAN has died following a three-vehicle crash on the New England Highway near the intersection with the Gatton-Clifton Rd.
The motorcyclist collided with a car at about 1.38pm.
A third vehicle was also involved.
The male motorcyclist suffered critical injuries.
Another male, aged in his 30s, suffered serious head, back and abdominal injuries
A girl, aged in her late teen, also sustained minor injuries.
Paramedics are transporting the man and the teenager to the Toowoomba Hospital.
EARLIER: QUEENSLAND Ambulance Service paramedics are treating a patient after a crash at the intersection of the New England Highway and Gatton-Clifton Rd.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said police diverted traffic on the highway to make room for the paramedics.
The crash occurred at 1.45pm.
The QFES spokeswoman said a motorcycle collided with a vehicle.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
