Shout out to the supporters: Proud Warwick football families

WHEN a team wins a football grand final the focus deservedly falls to the players who pour their blood, sweat and tears into developing a champion side.

But what is often forgotten is those who helped from the sidelines: The families who turned up in the blistering sun, week after week, to yell things like "Dig deep!” and "Come on!” until their throats became hoarse; The parents who washed out every little grass stain and nursed every little injury; The brother who gave up time with his friends so he could watch his little sister tear up the field.

At the under 13 football grand final at Queens Park this morning, those supporters turned out in force to scream and cheer for their number one players.

Nicole Mules said her family had come to support Mariner's player Matthew McMahon, as they had since he began as a cubs player some five years before.

"He was really happy to be in the grand final,” Ms Mules said.

"They'd only lost one game so far so we're pretty pleased with them!”
