Storm cells pushing through Warwick

RAIN has started to fall in Warwick as weak storm cells push through the region.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Chris Joseph said the storms were unlikely to be severe.

"There are a few weak cells starting to push through Warwick right now,” he said.

Cold wind was blustering through town today, sending a chill for anyone stepping outdoors.

"We had a southerly surge that came up yesterday and through the night, that's pushing through the Granite Belt area and eastern part of the Darling Downs,” Mr Joseph said.

"Winds have increased through that region and you could see that continue through today and tomorrow.”

Mr Joseph said there was a good chance of rain tomorrow and through the weekend as well.

A severe storm warning was issued for other parts of the Darling Downs this morning, with locations such as Kingaroy, Dalby and Gympie all expected to be affected.
