SUPERSTAR SWITCH: Conrad cancelled, but Dami is Im!
X-FACTOR winner Dami Im will replace Conrad Sewell when she makes a celebrity appearance at Warwick's Sony Children's Camp on Monday.
Staff at Warwick's Scots PGC College received an email this morning saying Sewell had to fly to LA at short notice and could no longer perform at the camp.
Sewell was set to sing in an exclusive concert for 20 children with disabilities and 45 student volunteers from schools around Warwick.
The news was "disappointing" for campers and volunteers who were looking forward to seeing Sewell perform his hit "Healing Hands" but their sadness didn't last long.
A Scots PGC College spokeswoman confirmed Sony will send Australian pop icon Dami Im to replace Sewell.
After winning X-Factor in 2013, Im charmed international fans at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest where she won the jury vote with the song "Sound of Silence".
Sony Camp volunteer and Scots PGC graduate Sophie Osborn said spirits were still high among campers and volunteers.
"It's a good change in the end. We were disappointed but I think everyone is excited Dami is coming," she said.
Volunteers will throw their own disco tonight in place of Sewell's concert and Dami will cap off the camp with a farewell performance on Monday.
"We're so grateful that Sony was able to pull this together at the last minute," Sophie said.
