Targa team taking on Tassie
TEAM Betta Warwick will start Targa Tasmania 2015 today after driver Rob Balint and navigator Peter Lane left Warwick on Friday for one of the most famous rallies in the world.
Report 3 from Peter Lane
Team Betta Warwick has officially confirmed our entry into the event for 2015.
Yesterday saw us arrive in Devonport at about 6.30am after a rather eventful night on Bass Strait.
The Captain assured us at the beginning of the night that it would be a smooth sailing but I beg to differ with him.
At about 10pm, both Rob and I were watching the Movie in the common area on the boat when Rob noted that it was getting harder and harder for him to sit in the chair.
We both then decided it would be a good time to go to bed.
It didn't help much. At about 1.30am, I woke up on the floor after the movement of the boat threw me out. Anyway all is well that ends well.
We presented ourselves for documentation at "Silverdome" in Launceston yesterday morning and received all our essentials to compete in Targa Tasmania 2015.
We then prepared the car with the current sponsors stickers and logos and headed off to scrutineering.
It was pleasing that the car passed with flying colours.
The car was then parked in "Park Ferme" in prime position with the "Ready to race" sticker on the window. The rest of the team arrived and everyone bonded and then got organised for the event.
Drivers briefing at The Country Club in Launceston was conducted in great spirits and then we moved on to the Welcome Party.
Friendships were renewed and made with other crews at the gathering and we are excited about the official start today. It must be said the support from people at both home and Darling Downs people who are here for the event in Tasmania is overwhelming and much appreciated.
Today is the official start of the event and we are scheduled for four competition stages culminating with the special spectator stage of Georgetown.
