Ultimate pub guide to the long weekend in Warwick

IT's time to pull out your best green and gold as Australia Day celebrations heat up across the Rose City.

Known for the Australia Day cricket carnival, Warwick will be buzzing as locals celebrate their wins and losses on the pitch, the Hottest 100 countdown and at the Great Australian Bites tomorrow.

Stockyard Tavern is already flying their paraphernalia, according to shift manager Natalie Hogden, who is hopeful that live entertainment will lure people through the door.

"We have a few events on over the weekend - we're having live, local entertainment on Saturday and Sunday night," Ms Hogden said.

"There will be games throughout the day on Sunday."

While many will mark the occasion with celebrations at home, local businesses are encouraging people to attend events at pubs around town.

"We're a freshly opened business, so it would be good to get people in here," she said.

"Hopefully it'll be a good weekend, getting locals in to suss out the place and see what we have."

It's a sentiment reflected by The Malt House manager Gabby Richmond, who is hopeful extended rooftop terrace hours will draw in partygoers.

"All businesses are suffering through the drought, so I think people should come and support them," Miss Richmond said.
