Vinnies seek original owners of historic donated photos

USUALLY, people donate pre-loved goods to their local opportunity shop when they're no longer needed.

Sometimes, sentimental items are inadvertently lumped in with your disused items.

Debbie Craven from Stanthorpe Vinnies hopes to track down the source of a number of photos which have recently been donated to the store, along with other items.

"I'd like to return them to their rightful owners,” she said.

One photo, donated on its own, appears to be a portrait of a man named Fred Fitzhenry, according to an inscription on the back of its frame.

The note says: "Love to Maud, from Cousin Dan” and is dated March 30, 1993.

Also donated to the op shop on a separate occasion were three smaller black and white images.

One of the photos pictures "Dawn in mummy's armchair, 1 1/2 years old” according to an inscription. This photo was dated 1944.

Ms Craven said she was hopeful someone would come forward to shed some light on the origins of the photos.

She said it was likely they had been accidentally donated.

The photos are at Vinnies on 21 Creek St, Stanthorpe.
