Editorial: Violence ruins lives

IT SHOULD be a happy time of year, one filled with new beginnings and hopeful thoughts of fulfilling resolutions.

For those involved in the incident at Leslie Dam yesterday, it could have been the beginning of the end.

Alcohol-related violence continues to fill our pages, courtrooms and lives.

It's single actions like glassings or punches that can ruin people's lives forever.

I'm sure it's something those involved will never forget.

The penalties for alcohol-related violence will continue to get tougher - but does any penalty compare to severe facial scarring or even death?

What's the solution?
