Want to see night motorsport, head to Lemons on Friday night
MOTORSPORT: The Minion Madness Motorsport team will travel from Melbourne to compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons meeting at Morgan Park Raceway starting Friday.
The first three teams had arrived at Morgan Park by 2pm Thursday and the other 42 will be in town by mid-morning Friday.
Practice is from noon to 2pm Friday and then the track will be closed until the official start at 3pm Friday.
Scrutineering will be from 9am to noon and the noise of each car will be measured to ensure it is 95 decibels or less which is equivalent to a street car on the highway.
Teams racing from Queensland include two VW Beetles from Brisbane, one called Barbie Racing and the other Bug Sport.
Double Decker Racing from Moreton Bay travel and camp in a double decker bus and tow their Lemons car, a BMW.
All are welcome to watch the action from the stands on the hill near the overhead bridge or the grandstand in front of the pits.
Nearly all the teams get dressed up and will give spectators at the 3pm start on Friday a colourful look at the field.
Organiser Sean Herbert said spectators could carefully walk around the pits to check out the cars.
The Warwick and District Sporting Car Club have nominated a team with nine drivers.
Ten new teams will be in action at Morgan Park Raceway with speeds of up 140km/h to be reached. The smallest trophy goes to team with most laps, the emphasis is on fun.
