Team Betta makes their way to Targa Tasmania

DRIVER Rob Balint and navigator Peter Lane are back on the road south to Targa Tasmania.

They have placed in the past and love driving the Team Betta Warwick car in one of the most famous rallies in the world.

The Daily News will bring you regular updates from the Warwick team as written by Peter Lane.

Report 2:

Team Betta Warwick driver Robert Balint and navigator arrived in Melbourne yesterday and boarded the Spirit of Tasmania bound for Devonport to prepare for Targa Tasmania.

The weather was misting rain and a little bit cold, although Robert described it as freezing.

The trip down was uneventful and seemed to go by quiet fast.  Seas were smooth for the trip across to Tasmania.

Today, Team Betta Warwick will present themselves at documentation and scrutineering.

They have a support crew of four who will be in Tasmania for the event start early in the week.

Report 1:

Well it's on again.  The ultimate tarmac rally Targa Tasmania is set to go.  Team Betta Warwick is set to go.

The car is loaded onto the trailer, the tow vehicle packed and all the last minute panicking by Rob has been done.

It has been a long and painful year for the team since our last adventure in Tasmania.

Just to refresh everyone's memory, last year was not a good one.

We only made it to the end of the first stage on the first competition day before the car decided it had enough for 2014.

It put a conrod out through the side of the block and we came to a smokey end.

Now even those of you with zero mechanical knowledge would know that this isn't good.

We have spent the last 12 months rebuilding the motor and going through the car from top to bottom to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

Robert bought another motor and Tony Bell, a mate on the Coast, spent a lot of his time pulling the motor down, replacing parts and then rebuilding the motor from scratch.

The finished product is sensational.

Let me take the time to re-introduce the Team:

 Owner/Driver    Robert Balint

Navigator          Peter Lane

Crew Chief        Gub Balint

Pit Crew            Troy Perrin

Pit Crew            Rod Hohl

 Pit Crew            Mark Lewis

Both Robert and myself headed off this morning (Friday) en route to Melbourne with an overnight stay at Narrandera Friday night and into Melbourne on Saturday.

We will board the Spirit of Tasmania at about 4pm Anzac Day and arrive in Devonport Tasmania early Sunday morning.

We will then travel up to Launceston with both vehicles and complete documentation with the Targa Team.

The rest of the team fly in on Sunday and will meet us in Launceston just in time to get the car through scrutineering and rally headquarters.
