Warwick police continue search for roadside attacker

MEMBERS of the public have started to come forward with information regarding a brutal roadside attack on a young Warwick woman on Tuesday.

Warwick Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn said inquiries into the serious assault were continuing this morning.

"We're running through information from the public,” Sgt Tamblyn said.

Police are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who may be able to assist with their investigations.

The Warwick woman, who is in her early 20s, was attacked about 6.15pm on Tuesday after her car broke down on Rose St.

A man, who was driving a white ute, stopped to offer to help the woman.

After a few minutes the woman walked to the back of her car, the man followed her and slammed her head into the side of the car, knocking her unconscious.

The woman said she didn't know how long she was unconscious, but told Nine News when she woke her clothes were ripped, her pants pulled down and the man was on top of her.

She said the man hit her across the face again, knocking her out for a second time.

When she came to, he was gone.

The woman was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The man has been described as Caucasian, aged between 30 to 40, with a chubby build, short dark hair and full dark beard and was approximately 175cm tall.

He was wearing a dark blue tradie shirt with sleeves rolled up, matching shorts and tradie style boots.

He was driving a white single cab ute with a silver tray back and sides.

The woman was driving a white 1996 Nissan patrol station wagon white with a bull bar and scrub bars.
