Warwick Showgirl wins Darling Downs title

THE 2018 Warwick Showgirl Sarah Wilson took out the Darling Downs Showgirl title at the Toowoomba Show on Saturday.

To impress the judges Miss Wilson was required to sit an interview as well as give a presentation on Warwick and her 20 year involvement with the Warwick Show.

Her roles will include being an ambassador at some of the 19 shows across the region until early next year.

Miss Wilson will be an official guest at these events and will be involved in opening ceremonies and guest judging.

Miss Wilson said the support from the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society had been crucial.

"The smiles on their faces when my name was called out on Saturday were amazing,” she said.

Miss Wilson, an occupational therapist with Queensland Health, beat 12 other women vying for the coveted title.

"I was very surprised to win,” Miss Wilson said.

"There were some very strong and very competitive girls from the different show societies all around the region and I was really just honoured to be up there representing Warwick.”

"I've already had invitations to two shows around the region coming up shortly and I'll be representing the whole region at the Ekka, when they announce the Miss Queensland Showgirl in August.

"I'm very thankful for the wonderful support as well from the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society.”
