Warwick team finishes fixture season undefeated

FOOTBALL: The Warwick Wolves ended with an unbeaten record in Toowoomba Football conference grade on Saturday night.

In front of one of the biggest crowds all season, Warwick took 15 minutes to score its first goal and ended up with six scorers in a 6-0 victory against Goondiwindi.

Matt Carey, Devon Cooper, Cameron Davey, Sam McLennan, Ben O'Dea and Tyson Spies all scored goals.

Spies was one of four players from the Warwick premier junior grade who stepped up in the conference grade for Warwick.

While the win gave Warwick an unbeaten record in fixtures this season, it won't be recorded in the history of Toowoomba Football as unbeaten as the team was only accepted into the competition in round 3 and was put down as forfeiting the first two games of the season.

Coach Bernie Lopez said he was happy with the form of the premier junior players.

"I hope they play seniors next season,” he said.

"Midfielders Devon Cooper and Rob Davey were the two best.

"I was happy with how we played in the second half on Saturday night.

"Goondiwindi have improved 60 per cent since the start of the season.”

The finals start next weekend and Lopez said it wouldn't be an easy task to win the premiership despite the team's form this season.

Willowburn are the minor premiers and will play Warwick in the major semi next weekend.
