Water Rats secure win at home to maintain unbeaten record this season
RUGBY UNION: On Saturday, the Water Rats lined up against tough opposition Toowoomba Rangers and won 28-21.
After a strong showing from the Rats forwards in the opening minutes, Warwick came away with the first points.
The Rats managed to maintain the majority of possession for the rest of the half till the closing minutes when Rangers managed to run in two tries to take the lead going into half-time.
Going into the second half it was a tough battle up front with the Rats managing to win in physicality. Young guns in the form of Alex Seery and Mathew Whittaker managed to carry the ball forward to secure a 28-21 win, leaving the Rats undefeated heading into round 5 of the competition.
In the player points for the weekend, one point went to Josh Sharman, two points to Craig Pettiford and three points to both Alex Seery and Matthew Whittaker. Player Tasman Robinson celebrated his birthday. There were 50 players at junior rugby union on Saturday. - Patrick Black
