2019 Kids Fishing Competition
When: Sunday, September 15, 12.30 - 2.30pm
Where: Pioneer River & Tackle World Mackay
What's happening: The 10th Annual Tackle World Mackay Kids Fishing Competition is on again. It's open to kids aged from three to 15 years - both boys and girls. You must register prior to the day at Tackle World Mackay to receive a wristband. No entries will be registered on the day. The weigh-in will be done by MRFA staff between 12.30pm and 2.30pm. There will be a sausage sizzle, coffee van and ice-cream van. Presentations run from 2.45pm at the River St Boat Ramp. Children are allowed to fish in the Pioneer River, adjacent beaches and estuaries.

Where: Eimeo Beach
What's happening: Tickets available for floaters, kids and friends/family. All tickets include a barbecue lunch and access to waterslides for children. Prizes on offer for the best dressed. Join as an individual or part of a team. Anything that inflates goes. Paddle, kick or push your inflatable around a short course at Eimeo Beach. This is the best non-race of the year. All money raised goes to Eimeo SLSC and Tour de Cure.

Rock, Paper, Scissors Art and Design Market 2019

Where: Mackay Civic Precinct
What's happening: Are you ready for the annual Rock, Paper, Scissors Art and Design Market for all things creative? Shoppers will find some fancy and fun locally made goodies, from clothing, jewellery, art, pottery, homewares and delicious food. Bring the family out for some shopping and entertainment including live music and kids' activities.
Sugar City Burnouts
When: Friday, September 13, 4pm & Saturday, September 14, 12pm
Where: Palmyra Drag Racing Club, Bells Road, Palmyra
What's happening: If you love burnouts you're not going to want to miss this event. Engines will rev as some of the toughest cars in the country put on one hell of a show chasing over $8000 in prize money and bragging rights.
Roald Dahl's the Twits

What's happening: Mr and Mrs Twit, the most horrible people ever to live on the stage of the earth, will be live at the MECC. They spend their days playing dirty tricks on each other. Mrs Twit puts worms in Mr Twit's spaghetti - yuck! Mr Twit convinces Mrs Twit she has the dreaded shrinks - how mean! River Street Twilight Market

What's happening: This Friday get ready for some delicious food. Come along with your family and friends for a chilled afternoon on the beautiful riverside. Bring a blanket to relax under the stars surrounded by good vibes of local music. There will be a range of food stalls to choose from and stallholders showcasing their wares.
Sarina Twilight Market

What's happening: Black Friday could be lucky for one person, with another chance to win $100 cash at the Sarina Arts and Crafts Twilight Markets, thanks to sponsorship of Sarina Arts and Crafts Centre. To be in the draw you have to be at the markets. Get a ticket to be in the running for the $100 cash by purchasing something at the stalls or at the Craft Centre, and pop your entry into the box at the centre.
Browse the stalls for gifts made by locals. The markets feature plants, toys, clothes, pots, jewellery, preserves and more, and the Craft Centre offers quality locally handcrafted goods.

Relay for Life - Mackay 2019

What's happening: Relay For Life is Cancer Council's overnight community event and one of the most inspiring fundraising experiences on offer. Teams of 10-15 get together to raise money and then take it in turns to walk around a track at a relay-style overnight event - symbolising that cancer doesn't sleep. You can stay for the whole event, do a shift on the track or just visit and enjoy the entertainment, prizes and ceremonies that make Relay For Life so inspirational.
Breast & Prostate Cancer Health Forum

Where: Mackay Base Hospital K Block
What's happening: The Breast and Prostate Cancer Association of Queensland is hosting a health information day in Mackay. Speakers will cover topics including: surgical options, medical oncology, urology, exercise and lymphoedema, support services and patient perspectives.
McEwens Beach Local Coastal Plan community catch-up
When: Saturday, September 14, 2pm - 4pm
Where: Reg Jones Park, Aura Street. McEwens Beach
What's happening: McEwens Beach supports rare and threatened species including migratory shorebirds, marine turtles and a range of woodland, mangrove and salt flat communities. It is also a popular recreational area. A draft Local Coastal Plan (LCP) has been developed to identify the natural values and issues at McEwens Beach and contains recommended management activities. Residents are invited to learn more about the LCP and have their say at a community catch-up. Residents who can't attend the catch-up can provide feedback online at Connecting Mackay.
Monster Cent Sale
