Woolbrokers back Stanthorpe Spring Stampede with warm gift
QUALITY merino hoodies will be donated as prizes at the annual Stanthorpe Spring Stampede on September 15.
Fox and Lillie Rural Woolbrokers wool representative Bruce Toms arranged the donation of the hoodies after national news reported on the difficulties Southern Downs schools were having with fundraising.
"The report inspired Fox and Lillie Rural Woolbrokers to reach out from their Melbourne offices,” Mr Toms said.
"We are donating quality merino hoodies to the Stanthorpe Spring Stampede to showcase the benefits of merino wool.
"Merino wool is breathable, biodegradable and beautiful making it the perfect fibre for performance sportswear.”
Mr Toms said the Southern Downs grew some of the most sought after merino in the world.
"Sponsoring this event raises awareness of the importance of the wool industry to our district. Sheep numbers are down due to the drought but the wool quality is still excellent”.
The Stanthorpe Spring Stampede is a community event comprising 5km and 10km fun runs.
"The event will be held on September 15 with participants encouraged to enjoy the day and the benefits of an organised event,” Mr Toms said.
Both distances start and finish at the Stanthorpe State Primary School where there will be health stalls, BushKids, The Teddy Bear Hospital and food vendors.
